Muscles è la riorganizzazione di un estratto del testo di Kathy Acker “Against ordinary language, the language of the body”, sotto forma di manifesto pubblico. In questo saggio, Acker - nota per il suo approccio femminista e queer alla letteratura e in particolare per l'appropriazione del linguaggio esistente - cerca di trovare le parole per parlare della sua esperienza di bodybuilding, in una palestra.
